New Year, New Aspirations

It’s that time of year when people set resolutions for themselves for the new year. While I think it’s great to set on a journey of positive change, I feel yearly resolutions are often firm and unforgiving leaving most overwhelmed and discouraged. This is why I prefer to view it as setting goals and aspirations for the year ahead.

My aspirations this year is to sign up for a fitness class I’ve never experienced before, read more non fiction and complete the two courses I signed up for last year; craniosacral therapy and corrective exercise specialist. Clear, attainable, desirable! There should be a “want”, a “fire” to your goals, in what ever form that may come. Then find good support and encouragement! Surround yourself with people who have similar goals, similar passions.

If your goal is to set on a path of better health and fitness, be clear on what that is – e.g. go up two flights of stairs without panting, jog a mile in under 10 minutes, less binge drinking, etc.  – writing it down and setting small steps leading to the end goal will help you build it into a habit.

The intention of this blog post was to just clear the slate… for my mind mostly, but I hope it’s sparked some good aspirations within you!
